Remote Education

At Northgate Primary, we understand that there may be times when learning needs to happen from home.  This may be due to illness or school closure due to an emergency situation.  Our Remote Education approach is designed to support primary-aged children with clear, structured lessons that help them continue making progress, even when they cannot attend school.

Each week, parents will receive guidance on what children should complete using the My Child at School App.  This will include short learning activities aligned to the curriculum. Tasks are planned to be manageable at home, with instructions written in a clear, child-friendly way so that children can focus on learning while adults provide the right level of support.

We will also keep in touch throughout any period of remote learning. Teachers will check in regularly, provide feedback where appropriate, and respond to questions so that children feel supported and confident. If you need help accessing resources or understanding what to do, please contact the school and we will do our best to assist.

Remote learning will follow the same broad curriculum as pupils receive in school wherever possible.

This includes:

• English (reading, writing and phonics)
• Mathematics
• Science
• Foundation subjects such as history, geography, art, RE, computing and PE

Daily Expectations for Learning

In line with DfE guidance, pupils will receive the following minimum daily learning time:

• Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS): up to 3 hours
• Key Stage One: at least 3 hours
• Key Stage Two: at least 4 hours
